Kalindi Will Be Rescued & More

02/15/2015

We are so grateful to your quick response to saving “the cow.” The funds have been raised to rescue her and her name now is Kalindi. Thank you everyone for your outpouring of concern and support. We were able to inform farmer Don that ISCOWP can take her and we have scheduled Kalindi to come in the middle of March. Right now it is too cold to move her. Usually the cows will be let out on pasture sometime in April depending on the weather. Not only will we take a video of Kalindi arriving here in March and publish it in the March ISCOWP e-newsletter but we will also take a video of her first time on pasture in April for all of you to experience her joy.

We are so highly appreciative of your support and without it we could not have rescued Kalindi. We pray that Lord Krsna bestow his mercy upon all of you.

Thank you all for all your support.

Your servant and friend,
Chayadevi
ISCOWP Co-Managing Director

Matching Gift Campaign a Success

An anonymous donor made a Matching Gift Campaign for $20,000 to be completed by December 31, 2014. You met that challenge before the deadline and when I told him the results he was so encouraged that he made a another matching gift challenge for another $20,000. You then matched that before the deadline. Our anonymous donor said, ” It is so wonderful and encouraging to see so many people donate to cow protection.”

We are indebted to all of you for meeting both goals. These funds allow us to maintain and increase ISCOWP’s cow protection activities. Congratulations to all of you!

Cow Protection in Silicon Valley

Balabhadra was invited by Hari Guru das who is heading up the Surabhi Project under ISKCON Silicon Valley. He collaborates with Tom Broz who runs the Live Earth Farm where the project’s cow, Surabhi, is living and taken care of.

Hari Guru das would like to expand the project and invited Balabhadra to come to Silicon Valley to encourage that goal and to give some practical knowledge about cow protection. Balabhadra visited Tom Broz’s farm and was very impressed with the care given Surabhi and Tom’s goals. The Live Earth Farm hosts educational programs to teach kids and families the value of seasonal, organic and local food systems. A 250 member CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program is served by Live Earth farm established since 1996.

This video not only shows a view of winter at the ISCOWP farm but also an arthik and treats fed to the cows in honor of any donor of $1000 which is our humble gift in reciprocation of their generosity.

A Blast From the Past

ISCOWP’s first video made in 1995. It is about training oxen by voice commands. We keep receiving requests about how to train oxen so we republished this video. We hope to make a similar but new video on this topic this year. The information is relevant but the quality needs improvement.
