Bulls, not Milk?

06/06/2018

Blessings to all during this auspicious month of Purushottama which ends June 13th. For those who are not familiar with this unique month in the Hindu faith here is a short explanation.

Purushottama Adhik (extra) Maas (month) or the auspicious month of Purushottama comes every two, sometimes three years. It is a special month and very dear to Krishna. When the full moon occurs twice in a month, i.e., in less than 29 solar days then the month is divided into 2 and a leap month is added. This leap month is known as Adika mas or Purushottama month and occurs about every three years. It is a perfect time to engage in full devotional service and charitable acts as there are many spiritual and material benefits to the doer because of the auspiciousness of the month.

It is a wonderful time to Adopt a Cow, feed the cows or give a gift to the cows for general purposes. Besides donating on our website (where the links will take you), please inquire at your place of work if they have a Matching Gift Program. Many companies like Apple and Microsoft have such a program. A good number of these companies work through Benevity.org to match your gifts. We are a member of Benevity.org, and we are happy to say some ISCOWP donors are using this method to double the value of their donations.

Thank you so much!

Bulls, not Milk?

In the last e-newsletter, we mentioned the Cow Culture Conference at which Balabhadra (William E. Dove) was going to speak.  The Cow Culture Conference was held in Silicon Valley, California May 2018 by the Om Sri Surabhi Campaign headed by HH Bhakti Raghava Swami. At the conference, Balabhadra (William E. Dove – president of ISCOWP) spoke about Lord Krishna as a protector of cows, why cows were bred in Vedic times and his realizations about the benefit of associating with cows. Some flashes from the past can be seen in pictures, dating back to the 1980’s, accompanying his talk. Here is his talk taken from the live stream video of the full conference which is about 6 hours long.

The rains finally came and the pastures turned green in only a few days. The ISCOWP herd was very happy to eat the fresh green grass. “Just as a living being attains a transcendentally attractive form by rendering service to Lord Hari, similarly, all inhabitants of the land and the water assume beautiful forms by taking advantage of the newly fallen water.” Srila Prabhupada, Light of the Bhagavat
