Rescue 2 Girl Calves

We lost 3 cows since 2015 due to old age and have room for another 2 more in addition to the 2 bull calves just rescued. After these two rescues we won’t be rescuing anymore for a while as we would be at our maximum capacity.

To finance their rescue we are offering the opportunity to name these two calves. A first donor of $1000 can give RS/390 or RS/394 calf a name. On the donation page there is a place where you can indicate what purpose you would like your donation to be used for. Just indicate which calf you wish your donation to go to by typing RS/390 or RS/394.  The second and third donors for each girl calf can give a name also which will give the calf three names, as many pedigree cows/bulls have three names or more. That is how our latest rescued bull calves got their names Dhruva Ladhu and Kalyan Tamal.

All donors of $1000 will receive an arati and treats offered to the cows invoking blessings for the donor, an ISCOWP t-shirt and tote bag and an organic dried produce gift from our farm.  Please take this opportunity and name the calves here.

And don’t forget, due to the Matching Gift Challenge your donation is doubled dollar for dollar until December 31. You and other ISCOWP members have reached beyond the initial $25,000 challenge. As of December 12th, ISCOWP has received $37,251.18 towards the campaign. Our anonymous donor will match another $25,000 by December 31! That leaves only $12, 748.82 to go to match the $50,000 challenge.

Rescued Bull Calves Update!

The boys Dhruva Ladhu and Kalyan Tamal have adjusted nicely to their new home. The first day Kalyan Tamal had a hard time figuring out how to drink from the bottle. The second day he figured it out real quick. Now, he and Dhruva Ladhu relish their morning and evening bottles with great gusto. There was a little diarrhea but each of them were given probiotics to help their stomachs and the diarrhea cleared up quickly.  This last week they have been eating a grain formula designed for young calves even though Mr. Ladhu is younger and smaller than Kalyan Tamal he is gaining weight and closing the gap in size.

“There has been one incident where my wedding ring has disappeared. I noticed it after evening feeding when I came in to wash the bottles. My wedding ring was gone. I contribute this to the babies sucking on my fingers after they finish drinking their bottles. Now I am on poop patrol looking for my wedding ring. Just another adventure with the cows,” said Balabhadra.
