Special Note for Your Annual Receipt/Tax Letter
Over the past three years, we have implemented online donation software to accept donations on our website. This software also provides automated annual receipts or tax letters. It also allows us to add donations from sources other than the website to automate a tax letter. So now, all ISCOWP donors can acquire receipts and/or their tax letters online. This year, our tech, Darin, has made it easier for you to acquire your tax letter. Just go to https://iscowp.org/ and put your cursor over the Donate button at the top of the page. The words “Donor Dashboard” will appear. Click that, and your donor dashboard will appear. On the left of your donor dashboard, you will see Annual Receipts. Click that, and you can see annual receipts for every year since 2022. Click “View Receipts” for 2025, then print or download it as a PDF. If you have any difficulties, please get in touch with us.
Just wanted you to know that we do not store any credit card information on our website. Stripe stores credit card information from donations made on the ISCOWP website. If you have donated through PayPal, your company, etc., all credit card info is stored with them.
The Hay has Arrived!
Thanks to your generosity, the hay has arrived! Two trucks brought the first delivery of fifty-two bales, each weighing approximately 800-850 pounds. It was perfect timing before the cold weather hit. Because of the freezing temperature, the cows are eating extra hay. Cows eat more in freezing temperatures to generate metabolic heat and maintain their body temperatures.

The cold weather is continuing to freeze the pastures, leaving little for the cows to eat. The freezing temperatures have burnt the grass brown. It has been abnormally cold for this time of year.
Are Western Breed Cows Actually Cows?
You may be aware of the statements and beliefs that Western cows are not cows and may be slaughtered. Surprisingly, this belief has taken root amongst many devotees and Indians. We came across two articles that challenge the shastric position supporting this belief, which you may find interesting and informative.
Are Western Breed Cows Actually Cows?
When False Philosophy Leads to Cow Slaughter
Here is part of a paragraph from one of the articles we could relate to.
“If you want to know whether a cow is sattvic, live with cows, serve cows, interact with cows, and speak with cows. Then you will know what are cows and what is their nature. Desi cows do not differentiate the Jersey cows they live with, only the humans are making this distinction, a distinction that will ultimately support, justify and increase cow slaughter, while providing a supposed religious justification…”

What about Ahimsa, which originated in India? Here is the Google definition of Ahimsa: “Ahimsa originated in ancient India as a foundational ethical principle of non-violence, non-injury, and compassion towards all living beings. It is deeply rooted in Indian philosophy and is a core virtue in Hinduism, Jainism, and Buddhism, appearing early in Vedic texts and Upanishads.” The Ahimsa philosophy means that all animals deserve our compassion and should not be eaten.
Did You Know?
We come across so many people who tell us they tried to become vegetarian or vegan but had trouble consuming enough protein and eventually went back to being meat eaters or dairy consumers. We recently read an article that explained how there are many sources of protein in a vegetarian or vegan diet, some of which surprised us. Take a look at this article to find out some surprising sources of protein not from cows or any other animals.

Milking Shorthorn cows are primarily bred in the meat and dairy industries as a dual-purpose breed, excelling in both efficient, high-solids milk production and quality beef production. They are valued for their longevity, docile temperament, grazing efficiency, and ease of calving.
Narayana lived in a small hutch on a dairy farm, about to be slaughtered, when he was rescued by ISCOWP members.
